tinned chicken in white sauce

Not my favourite thing in the store cupboard, but it is quite versatile and rings the changes.  I ordered own brand from Morrisons at £1,80 per tin, but it was out of stock and was replaced with Princes brand at £2. A tin would make two meals for me, and it could be stretched to serve four if needed with other additions - cooked pasta, vegetables, etc.

Not recipes as such, but some ideas for making it a bit more interesting:

Add tinned onions, seasoning, cooked pasta - serve it as is, or top with breadcrumbs, parmesan, herbs and bake in oven.

Add tinned/frozen/cooked fresh vegetables to make it go further

Add sliced dried or tinned mushrooms, herbs and seasoning, serve with pasta

Use as a pie filling, adding in vegetables, mushrooms etc - top with pastry or mashed potato

Make into a curry - add onions, vegetables, tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, spices, seasoning, coconut milk, knob of butter

Add stock and whizz in the blender for a cream of chicken soup
